Laura Owens (Euclid, 1970) is famous for her very instinctive approach to producing work, by no means casually made as any further inspection finds layers of reference and imagery from many sources.

Based in Los Angeles, she first graduated from the Rhode Island School of Design and then the California Institute of the Arts. Since 1995, she has had solo shows in galleries including Gavin Brown’s enterprise New York, Galerie Gisela Capitain Cologne, and Sadie Coles HQ London, and lately a major traveling survey exhibition of her works is shown at institutions like the Kunsthalle Zürich, Camden Arts Center, Ausstellungshalle Zeitgenössische Kunst Munster and Bonnefanten Museum Maastricht.
