Comme elles étaient jolies brings together young girls, animals and forests. Something seems to have happened, or perhaps is about to happen. Between adolescence and the wild, reality and fairy tale, the images create a language suspended in time, inhabited by familiar and slightly unsettling presences.

Laetitia Benat lives and works in Paris. She works across photography, video, drawing and publishing. She is interested in images, the stories they give rise to, and what lies between reality and fiction. She also writes, much like she draws: shifting words, fragmenting them, sometimes allowing language to take on another form. She creates books and zines, alone or in collaboration with other artists.
