Shary Boyle works in Canada across drawing, sculpture and performance. Her art considers the social history of ceramic figurines, animist mythologies and folk-art forms to create a symbolic, feminist and politically charged language uniquely her own. Making deeply imaginative, idiosyncratic, and unsettling worlds, Shary was an early innovator of live-drawing techniques using overhead projectors referencing shadow puppetry and cell animation. She activates her work through collaboration and mentorship, engaging other creative communities and practitioners with a characteristically inclusive spirit.
15 Things to Do with a Sculpture is a visual exercise one might undertake while asking, what is the function of art in this age of apocalypse?
