Observing and capturing, looking and drawing: Maria Pomiansky observes the everyday life around her with astonished curiosity and captures small moments in drawings. She is interested in people and recounts their activities, maintaining the same distance or proximity to her motif at all times. In anthropology, this is known as participant observation: the idea is to avoid intervening in the goings-on whenever possible, but instead to record them and collect artefacts. The process is threefold: assimilation of the world, storytelling through chronological recording and, above all, thinking in pictures. Thus we, as observers, view the art world through her eyes.
