Thiago Una is a self-taught artist born in 1985 in Chapada dos Viadeiros, Goiás, Brazil. He currently lives and works in Ilhéus, Bahia, Brazil. His work is informed by images that he finds in books and on the internet and by television and film. His grandfather was a senior ranking officer in the Brazilian army and his father was a Communist guerrilla. Accordingly he has a particular interest in militaria. Subjects range from 15th century Japan and 19th century South Africa through to the present day.
